Paper Dungeons has been a tabletop RPG for some time now and a decently popular one at that. However if you are not really into the tabletop RPG scene, you probably haven’t heard of it. Well the good thing is that you now needn’t be a tabletop RPG player to be able to enjoy Paper Dungeons because it has been digitized, massaged, visually strengthened, and released onto Android.

Paper Dungeons is a puzzle-based RPG that plays out as both a game and a dungeon crawler. There is a couple of different game modes to choose from too. Board Game Mode is one of the bigger modes within this game. Each dungeon begins like a new board from a large list of available adventure sets. Every new dungeon, your character resets to level 1, but fortunately you retain your inventory. Unexplored areas of the dungeons are hidden by a fog of war. Monsters and merchandise is placed at random, combats according to your statistics and dice rolls. Unlock and collect sets of dice (common/uncommon/rare/epic). Strangely enough, monsters use their very own dice sets with their own rarity as well. Monster also provide an awareness feature so if you’re within their line-of-sight, they will begin to move towards you.

Campaign Mode lets players go through a full story with up to 10 dungeons linked together. Every time you take part in the campaign mode, you’ll have an intro, dialogs between dungeons along with a conclusion, which differ depending on the dungeons that are linked together. Rogue Mode enables you to continue leveling your character rather than it resetting to level 1 when you start a brand new dungeon. You keep on leveling up until you die. When that occurs, your name will go in to the Hall of Fame and more powerful teams of dice is going to be provided which you can use in your next Rogue run. Puzzle Mode has no luck involved whatsoever neither is there and Fog Of War. You can observe everything, including where the monsters and loot are. Monsters don’t move though so you will need to use lots of strategy to get through each run.

Paper Dungeons Features:

– Supports high resolution with native 1080p graphics.
– Big campaign of 125 Adventure levels and 31 Puzzle levels.
– 5 character classes (warrior/archer/priest/mage/thief), men and women, each having a unique gameplay.
– A large number of different dice sets to enhance your character.
– 80+ monster types.
– More than 50 unique pieces of equipment, 30 scrolls and eight potions.
– 4 different starting zones, each with specific monsters and bosses, 3 sizes of dungeon and special boss stages.
– 3 zoom levels.

If that’s not enough content and replay value, there’s a Map Editor along with a Campaign Editor that you should create your own maps and campaigns. Whenever you finish a roadmap or campaign, you are able to publish them online for other people to try and conquer. This also means you can play other people’s maps and campaigns as well. Lastly, if you discover the game too easy after awhile, there’s a ‘Void’ difficulty setting you are able to switch on which uses another color for the monsters, making things a lot more difficult.

Considering the sheer amount of content, editors, and user create goodies Paper Dungeons come with, this is among those games you’ll always have something to do in. If you want to take a look game out, you can download a duplicate off of Google Play for $2.86 and also the game contains absolutely no IAPs.
