While there may be plenty of side-scrolling platformers on mobile these days, there aren’t a great deal that would squeeze into the category of ones that you will have to experience again and again. However there is one that is heading our way soon that, from what we should have experienced so far, looks like it would fit into that category quite nicely.

This new game is called Trial By Viking and just like suggested by its name, you will be playing as a viking inside a realm of Norse Gods. This can be a side-scrolling action platformer with puzzles that you’ll want to resolve on the way and it even has RPG elements layered onto it. If this hasn’t caught your interest yet, maybe the fact that Trial By Viking also includes a similar decision making narrative as if you would get in a TellTale Games title. Round everything off with some solid visuals and you have a title with a lot of potential to be a success.

Here is a rundown of the items the tale in Trial By Viking is about:

You really are a proud viking being employed as an agent of Odin within the worlds from the gods. You have been taught your entire life to follow the word of Odin, but right and wrong aren’t always so monochrome. Does Odin get carried away to prevent an already destined future?

Along how you will have lots of interesting adventures and events happen to you such as morphing into a polar bear, riding around the claws of the great owl just like a zip line, steer a flying Valkyrie through mazes of hazards,? as well as fight a Kraken inside a swimming pool. Evidently this is simply a sample. You’ll also have some voice acting hanging around from Erik Braa who’s previous work includes Jax/Draven in League of Legends and Telltale’s Walking Dead.

Trial By Viking is still currently in development but it is going to be visiting Android soon. We plan to go hands-on with it over at GDC 2015 in some weeks so expect some additional coverage and gameplay footage coming the right path soon. In the meantime, we all do possess some screenshots to share.
