Yezz announces that they will be developing modules for Project Ara

Written by AndrewH

You may not have heard of a business called Yezz and that is probably since they’re a small company lurking in the shadows of the mobile industry, at least here in america. They’re a bit more well-known in Europe. The organization handles producing phones and tablets for Android, Windows, and Firefox. Being that they are already in the hardware business, Yezz has announced that they will start developing and producing modules for Google’s Project Ara.

For people not familiar with what Project Ara happens to be, it is Google’s initiative to bring modular phones to the world. This suggest you will be able to swap out hardware modules with brand new ones that represent specific bits of hardware inside the phone like RAM, space for storage and so on. This can, if this gets released, essentially make Project Ara Android phones the equivalent of PCs in your pocket since you will be able to upgrade them in a similar fashion to PCs.

As module developer, Yezz will collaborate in establishing a viable module marketplace that will permit for optimum customization. The consumer asserts control in defining their devices, using the choice to buy a fully configured device or upgrading a single module.

Yezz hasn’t gone into details as to what modules they intend to produce, only that the company is going to be making them. However, we’ll know soon enough in regards to what Yezz has planned in terms of modules because the company will be in the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2015 in the Avenir Telecom’s booth showing off more details using what they expect to do, and hopefully some modules, for Project Ara. Full press release below.

Yezz as Module Developer for Project Ara

Yezz, an international mobile brand, adopts Project Ara, an intense illustration showing the bold brand’s ambition and enthusiasm for fostering innovation, planning to collaborate as a module developer for the Ara platform.

The Miami-based brand will showcase its first prototype modules for Project Ara’s open modular platform during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

A project within Google’s Advanced Technology & Projects (ATAP) group, Project Ara aims to produce an open modular smartphone platform with massive accessibility, democratizing the mobile industry by doing for hardware, exactly what the Android platform has done for software.

As module developer, Yezz will collaborate in establishing a viable module marketplace that will allow for max customization. The consumer asserts control in defining their devices, using the choice to buy a fully configured device or upgrading just one module.

?Yezz’s growth in the U.S. and Latin America and it is strong presence in Europe, contributed through the exclusive partnership with Avenir Telecom, has paved the best way to the global brand’s participation in Project Ara.

Created this year, it took a bit less than two years of innovation and perseverance for Yezz to become a leader brand in Latin America. It is now well known in Europe by :

– Entering in the top 25 GFK France with the Andy 3.5EI (n25) and the Classic C21 (n13)
– Creating the slimmest Windows Phone around the market
– Integrating WhatsApp application on cell phones with a public price below 19
– Signing a unique contract under Monaco license, which allows it to produce the Monaco 47 with Windows Mobile 8.1 OS.

Be part of Project Ara with Yezz at Avenir Telecom’s booth, situated in Hall 5 Stand 5C51, from March 2nd-5th, 2015.
