Square Enix announces Final Fantasy Grandmasters, also heading to Android soon

Written by AndrewH

If news of Final Fantasy XI visiting Android isn’t enough to satisfy that Final Fantasy itch you might be having, there’s some additional news that can help with this little problem. During the press event today where Square Enix announced their bond with Nexon in regards to bringing Final Fantasy XI Online to mobile, the company also announced another game called Final Fantasy Grandmasters.

This particular Final Fantasy game is more of a spin-off of Final Fantasy XI. This new game takes place in Vana’diel the same place that Final Fantasy XI happens. Grandmasters is not as serious since it’s parent game, Final Fantasy XI, and it’ll allow players to explore Vana’diel further with your friends online. You’ll be able to party track of friends or explore alone, but when you need to do party track of your pals then you will be able to talk to them and whatnot instantly.

Just because Final Fantasy Grandmasters is not as serious as FFXI does not mean it is all safe and cool to smell the flowers. You’ll have to fight monsters that you simply encounter, a few of which are from FFXI, as well as do all the things you would normally do within an RPG for example leveling up, gaining new abilities, and preparing your character.

True to normal Square Enix releases, Final Fantasy Grandmasters will launch like a beta in Japan the following month for both Android and iOS. Unfortunately there is no real confirmation as to whether or not we will have farmville in the West. However, considering FFXI is heading our way than safe to visualize that this should as well. Final Fantasy Grandmasters will be free-to-play and will have a cash shop where players can spend money on IAPs when they want to.
