If Nintendo teaming up with DeNA to create their IPs to mobile deices wasn’t hell freezing over remodel which will today’s news about Square Enix and Nexon will have the ability to pull that off. After Square Enix announced that no more major Final Fantasy games would be visiting mobile after Final Fantasy VI, as a result of large amount of reasons, today Nexon and Square Enix have announced that they are teaming up to bring Final Fantasy XI to mobile devices. What is even crazier is the fact that finances confirmation of a Western release, therefore it won’t be Japan only.

The reason why Final Fantasy XI is chosen rather than the next obvious choice, that being Final Fantasy VII, is because this is an MMORPG so lots of what needs to be rendered may happen server-side. Because it stands, this release will be a mobile form of Final Fantasy Xi and just what that exactly means remains to be seen. What both companies have said is that the content, visuals, and pretty much everything will be optimized for mobile gameplay.

Nexon Korea will leverage FINAL FANTASY XI’s compelling storyline, engaging content and impressive graphics while optimizing features for smartphone and mobile devices to produce an immersive, responsive and dynamic experience for mobile users.? These optimizations includes improving party organizing systems, enriching solo-play functionality, improving battle functionality and enhancing in-game events featuring.
